Dear Friends, Advent love and blessings to you all. This Wednesday 16th December is our monthly time for silent prayer and reflection ‘together’ from 7pm until 8pm for those who feel able to join in spirit. I offer a few more of John of the Crosses sayings of light and love…with so many lights around our towns and streets and homes it seems fitting. Yesterday I came across this little commentary on The Visitation; Elizabeth’s amazement at the presence of the God-child in Mary, in joy and humility, calls us to be astonished at everyone who comes into our life, each person a bearer of God’s Presence. The essence of prayer is to hear the voice of another, of Christ, but likewise to hear the voice of each person we meet in whom Christ also addresses us. His voice comes to us in every human voice and His face is infinitely varied… God became incarnate so that we might contemplate His face in every human face… Every human face is an icon of Christ, discovered by a prayerful person. Take care dear friends and may you be surrounded by light and held in love. with love Gillian |
