Contemplation puts us in touch intuitively and lovingly with the truth. It helps us develop wisdom, a God’s eye view of reality.
“You looked with love upon me
And deep within, your eyes imprinted grace;
This mercy set me free,
Held in your love’s embrace,
To lift my eyes adoring to your face. SC, 32
How do we know this is true? That “You looked with love upon me
And deep within, your eyes imprinted grace?
Through Faith. We know.
Faith is fulness. God gifts us with faith. Then he allures us to respond to his overtures in that very faith he has given.
Our faith is the Spirit’s aligning Himself with the pulse of the Son of God.
Faith is an aptitude of soul, certain and obscure.
Faith illumines and gives light.
But faith is also dark. Too much light. I need to engage by believing, not focussing.
Faith has to do with the total loss of previous certainties.
So we set aside this day today to come together as a way of deepening our faith, which is our way, and perhaps the best way, of bringing a higher intensity of love into the centre of our seemingly abandoned world.
